CASTLECLIFF BEACH & DUNES

Longbeach - Castlecliff is your entry to 25 kilometers of driveable beach streaching up past Kai Iwi to Waitotara in Taranaki. You can spend hours and see no one but you know when you do you'll get a friendly wave.

Facilities at the beach include parking, skate park, public toilets & showers.

In summer the beach is patrolled for family swimming by the Castlecliff Surf Lifesaving Club from their clubrooms on the beach.

FISHING

The choice is yours...

Launch your boat from the free ramp @ the CoastGuard station & longline or line fish the reef.

Wharf & riverbank fishing. 

Surfcasting from the North Mole or the beach.

Find the perfect spot for your contiki on miles of ocean beach.

Or wade in and get your quota of mussels.

BEACH HORSE TREKKING

Longbeach - Castlecliff is your entry to 25 kilometers of rideable beach streaching up past Kai Iwi to Waitotara in Taranaki. Local Castlecliff operation Whanganui horse trecks hires out good reloable horses and runs trecks. Ph 021930950

SURFING

As well as the better known break at the North Mole good breaks occur all along the beach depending on tides and season.

Wanganui Boardriders Club holds regular comps.

SKATING

A large clubhouse on the river is our base for learning the ways of the wind and the water.  Sailing teaches you many things and is a truely multi generational sport
